Disclaimer & Copyright

The PTSD Spirituality website and associated blog provide information on the theological and spiritual dimensions of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Additionally, they offer reflections, opinions, discussion, and resources for the awareness and healing of the spiritual dimensions of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Neither the website nor the blog offer medical advice beyond the recommendation to go seek it as necessary. These materials are in no way meant to replace or denigrate competent and caring medical and psychiatric medicine.  If you suffer from PTSD seek professional assistance immediately.

Rather, these materials supplement the spiritual lacunae in medicine and psychiatry concerning healing the PTSD sufferer.  They reflect my own life experience with PTSD, conversations with other PTSD survivors and people who care about them, and my research as a theologian on the effects of trauma on the soul.

Lastly, the materials are copyright to John D. Zemler.  Materials may be copied for personal use and study. They may be published and further disseminated with proper attribution to the author and the appropriate web source.

  1. Dear Dr. Zemler,
We are working with Ed Tick to put together a conference on veterans in the prison system and would like for you to be a part of it. See our website inourname.org for information. The conference will be over the Memorial Day weekend and is free to all veterans and their families.

    • Hello, Thank you for putting on this program concerning veterans and the prison system. There is an immense need in this arena and I am grateful to see so many quality organizations taking an active hand in it.

I am soon off to teach my class but will be in touch. Feel free to also write at DrZ (AT SIGN) PTSDspirituality.com. Thank you for thinking of my work in this regard. Semper Pax, Dr. Z

Dr.Z The nailhead is struck with your hammer and drives to the point of how many veterans feel including myself also Edward Tick goes there a well known Dr and supporter of veterans within the ptsd field I would like to have your permission to post your article on a forum so others may understand your point of view which many of us already do but there are so many others who has no ideal of why and what they are up against thank you and i will be waiting for your reply, Clark 24th Infantry Division Desert Storm

    • Hello Clark, Thank you for visiting the website. I am gratified that you find some of these writings fruitful. And, I am delighted to see your reference to Ed Tick. His book “War & the Soul,” is very valuable in our journey to better understand and heal from the PTSD soul wound. When he has been in the Midwest I have been fortunate enough to speak at a few of his PTSD Healing Retreats.

Feel free to share the articles/essays from this website with your forum and let your members know there are additional materials here on the website.
